More About us...
We meet in the auditorium at the Red Bluff Veterans Memorial Hall, 735 Oak St., Red Bluff. Doors open at 6:15 p.m. and the meeting starts promptly at 6:30 p.m., unless we have scheduled a special starting time. Regular meetings last approximately two hours. Special sew-in meetings are planned with extended hours, throughout the year.
The majority of the guild comes together at our monthly meeting, where programs on subjects related to quilting are presented. These programs are inspiring and educational; presenters may be talented local personalities or nationally known quilters. Optional guild activities are enjoyed by many members.
Raffle Prizes
Prizes are raffled each month by the Ways & Means committee. Funds go right into our general fund to support all Guild activities. You never know what you might win!
Show and Tell
Bring a completed quilt, a work in progress, or something a friend or relative has made. This is a very inspiring part of our program.
Block Of The Month
Annual projects are presented by a member. Sign-ups are taken at monthly meetings, usually at the beginning of each year.
From time to time classes are provided to help members begin and finish their first quilt! Information may be found on our Workshops page when classes are planned. Our Community Service group is also willing to provide an opportunity for beginners to practice and perfect their skills.
Hospitality
Coffee, tea and other refreshments are provided free of charge, donated by members during their birthday month. A hospitality table has been added for new members to have the opportunity to ask questions and find out about our guild and activities. Occasionally special "Simply Friends Days" and “Mini-Workshops” are held where new members work with and listen to helpful hints from more experienced members as they share time learning new skills, quilting and visiting.
Guests
Members are encouraged to bring a guest.
January is Friendship Month when guests are welcome free of charge. At other times the guest fee is $5. This fee helps to defray the cost of rent, refreshments and program fees for our monthly programs. Guests are allowed to attend up to 3 paid meetings, before we request that they become a member to continue.
Jr. Members, age 12 to 17, have an opportunity to get together to sew and visit too. Junior membership is free, but must be sponsored by an adult member in good standing.
Every other year the Sun Country Quilters organize and plan a beautiful quilt show of our members’ quilts. Our next Quilt Show, "Sun Country in Bloom" will be held April 5 & 6, 2025 at the Tehama District Fairgrounds in Red Bluff. Please check our Quilt Show pages for updated information as plans are made.
Our guild is well known in Northern California for our extensive Community Service projects. Each year hundreds of quilts are made by our members and donated to groups in our community. Members take home quilt packets to work on or meet weekly on Monday mornings at Quilt Culture in Red Bluff to complete projects.
