Challenge Quilts: Hidden Messages

Guild Members are once again working hard on sewing projects to fill the boutique area of the show, in addition to extra fabric, books, hand crafted items, quilts and much more.

Our show would not be a success without a great selection of vendors displaying their quilting fabrics, sewing and quilting machines, patterns, and other merchandise.  Click on “Vendors” above to see our growing list of vendors.

Our Quilt Show Dates :

April 25-26, 2015

We will again have a booth to design blocks for our community service quilts.  Plan to stop by and create a nine patch block that will be finished into a quilt for someone in Tehama County in need of warmth.  You can help!  Our guild is well known for providing 300 - 400 lap quilts each year to those in need in our community!

Text Box: In odd numbered years, the Sun Country Quilters Guild is pleased to present a quilt show at the Tehama District Fairgrounds in Red Bluff, California. This event showcases the work of its members, with opportunities available for education and community service.

“The Secret Language

of Quilts”

The drawing for our beautiful “Stars in My Garden” Opportunity Quilt will be held on Sunday, April 26.  Tickets will be available throughout the show for $1, with discounts for multiple ticket purchases.

Once again our small groups and local vendors will be providing us with baskets for drawings to be held at the end of the show. In 2013 we were lucky to be able to give away a sewing machine from Hokema’s Sewing and Vacuum, of Redding, as one of our wonderful raffle prizes.  The hardest decision is always which basket to put your tickets in!

Also, you will want to be sure to stop at the door prize table to see if you have won a prize just for attending our show.

What wonderful and unique quilts will be created for our challenge?  Letter Fabric from Riley Blake is now available to start your challenge wall hanging.  The entries are due to be turned in March 23rd with the winning quilts and all of the wonderful entries displayed at our local quilt shops in the weeks preceding our 2015 Quilt Show.

Our Quilt Committee members are delighted to honor past president, Sharon Cox and long time member, Marjorie McGraw as our featured quilters.  They will display some of their beautiful quilts at the 2015 show and will be available throughout the two day show to visit with guests and share their combined quilting experience.  Please plan to stop by to say hello at the show.

Guild members will be sharing great hints and quilting methods during our show at specified times, to be posted.  Topics will include quilt bindings, upcycling denim, flannel rag quilting, wine glass coasters, and treadle sewing machine demos.

We also hope to share a quilt video to our show guests at a special break area.
