Sun Country Quilters Making a Difference

The Sun Country Quilters of Red Bluff holds an annual sew-in at the Red Bluff Senior and Community Center to make quilts for their community service project.  This is a great chance for all members to help the community service group with their efforts to make and donate small quilts and lap quilts for many organizations, including Head Start, Meals on Wheels, Children and Adult Protective Services, Alternatives to Violence, Convalescent Hospitals, Rest Homes and to anyone who has a need.

This project has been a very good experience for both the quilters and the recipients of the quilts.  Georgina Tacconi, Community Service Chairperson for the Sun Country Quilters, says it best when she says, “We are just trying to keep our elderly residents warm and in comfort.”

Tacconi has reported that last year 400+ quilts were presented to local organizations and individuals in need.  She hopes to equal this amount again this year.

Quilters gather on Mondays at the Family Resource Center on Sycamore Street from 9am to 2pm to work on the quilts for those in need.  Everyone is welcome to join in helping to complete our goal for 2011.
