About Us

Sun Country Quilters meets on the fourth Monday of every month, with one exception in 2011; our December holiday party will be held on the 10th beginning at 6 pm. We meet in the auditorium at the Red Bluff Community and Senior Center 1500 S. Jackson, Red Bluff. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the meeting starts promptly at 7 p.m., lasting approximately two hours.  Many members come early and bring stitching projects to work on as they visit before the meeting starts.  Special sew-in meetings are planned with extended hours throughout the year.

The majority of the guild comes together at this monthly meeting, where programs on subjects related to quilting are presented. These programs are inspiring and educational; presenters may be talented local personalities or nationally known quilters. Optional guild activities are enjoyed by many members.

Show & Tell: Bring a completed quilt, a work in progress, or something a friend or relative has made. This is a very inspiring part of our program.

Raffle Prizes: Prizes are raffled each month by the Ways & Means committee. You never know what you might win!

Block of the Month: Each month a block packet that includes a pattern and fabric is prepared and sold for a small fee. Sign ups may be required at the beginning of the year.

Library: A wide variety of quilt-related books, tapes and templates are available to check out on a monthly basis.

Hospitality: Coffee, tea and refreshments are provided free of charge, donated by members during their birthday month. A hospitality table has been added for new members to have the opportunity to ask questions and find out about our guild and activities.  Occasionally special "Simply Friends Days" and “Mini-Workshops” are held where new members work with and listen to helpful hints from more experienced members as they share a day quilting and visiting.

Beginning Quilting Instruction:  From time to time classes are provided to help members begin and finish their first quilt!  Information may be found on our Workshops page when classes are planned. Various guild members are also involved in teaching beginning quilting classes in several Tehama County schools and are supported by guild funds.

Guests: Members are encouraged to bring a guest. January is Friendship Month when guests are welcome free of charge. At other times the guest fee is $5.

Community Service:  Our guild is well known in Northern California for our extensive Community Service projects.  Each year hundreds of quilts are made by our members and donated to groups in our community. We also sponsor a college scholarship each year and donate to local charities that are recommended by our members.

Quilt Show:  Every two years the Sun Country Quilters organize and plan a beautiful quilt show of our members’ quilts.  2013 is the year for our next quilt show to be held May 18 and 19 at the Tehama County Fairgrounds on Antelope Blvd. in Red Bluff. Photos from past quilt shows may also be viewed online.
